The Pride 2007 Rally took place June 16 (immediately following the parade) on The University of Iowa Pentacrest in front of the historic Old Capitol building. The day was warm, but spirits where high as Pride Proclamations were read on behalf of the cities of Iowa City, Coralville, and North Liberty. (This was the first year that Coralville and North Liberty declared and read proclamations!)
In addition to our normal celebration, 2007 commemorated the 30th anniversary of the passage of the Iowa City Human Rights Ordinance which included Gay and Lesbian people. |

To help raise funds, the Iowa City Pride Committee held the first Rainbow Run on May 20, 2007, in Iowa City Park. This 5K Fun Run and Walk took place on a beautiful Sunday morning and included runners, baby strollers, walkers and dogs. Prizes were awarded to race winners and the most festive runners. Each participant received a Rainbow Run water bottle and post-race refreshments.
We had a great time and hope you can join us in 2008 for the next Rainbow Run. |
